Top sources in the government told the Worldview Live that we can’t stop any Indian from going to Israel at the immigration point. Government in any way not going to tell anyone to stay away from Israel.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi however said that India had issued advisory and even tried to evacuate Indians from there. But we cannot stop anyone from going there. He said, “there have been no discussions with Israel regarding possible replacement of Palestinian labourers with Indian workers”.
The MEA spokesperson said, “Indian citizens are free to go abroad and take job opportunities.” Earlier Israel has issued a statement that Indian PM and Israel’s PM talked about possible supply of Indian labourers who will go to work there.
The construction industry employs the largest group of workers, with approximately 80,000 individuals from the West Bank and an additional 17,000 from Gaza. However, a significant majority of them had their work permits revoked following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
Israeli delegation has already visited India for possible supply of labourers from states like Haryana from where people would be eager to go.
