Vice President should not be Chairperson of Rajya Sabha

This is constitutional mistake that should be corrected as soon as possible. Vice President is Chairperson of Rajya Sabha by default. But he is elected by members of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Since, generally, he is elected by the most of the members of the ruling party in Lok Sabha, he represents the ruling party, not the opposition. Though it is considered that he will be neutral, but in practice, he functions as another representative of the government.

Recent controversy regarding mimicry of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar by TMC Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee opened a new area for further discussion and consideration. Vice President Dhankhar feels it is disregard of the post of the Vice President of India that is a constitutional post. As a matter of fact, if you go by the mimicry, you will understand that Banerjee was not mimicking Vice President, but was mimicking Chairperson of Rajya Sabha.
